A 24-year-old Ville Platte man has been arrested and charged for second degree murder for an early morning shooting on Sunday.
On Sunday, at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a report of a man lying face down in the front yard of a residence on Demourelle Street.
Upon arrival officers discovered a man dead from a gun shot wound to the chest area.
According to residents who live in the area, one gunshot was heard at around 2:40 a.m. that morning, but the body wasn’t discovered until officers arrived later that morning, police said.
“One of the residents in the area who heard the gun shot, looked out of his residence and saw multiple black males in the yard and roadway,” the department said. “The witness stated that the subjects got into in a vehicle and left the area.”
The victim has been identified as Holden Ardoin, 30, of Ville Platte.
Darius Armondo Arvie was arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of carrying a firearm by a convicted felon.
Arvie is being held without bond.
