Lafayette, La. (KLFY)  An inmate from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center escaped while working a detail on Willow Street.

According to the sheriff’s office PIO, a search remains underway for 35 year old Ronderick Duhon.

John Mowell said the inmate ran away from custody while returning to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Direct Supervision Unit on Willow Street.

Mowell said prior to his arrest, Duhon lived on Voorhies Street in Lafayette.

Anyone who has information on his whereabouts should contact 911 immediately.

Mowell said Duhon was not armed at the time of his departure, around 3:19 p.m., and is not classified as a violent offender.

He initially fled on foot from an area along Willow Street between University Avenue and Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.
