Madeline graduated from Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication in December 2018 with a concentration in broadcast journalism and a minor in sports studies. If Madeline looks familiar, it’s because she sideline-reported for the Ragin Cajuns ESPN+ broadcasts during the 2018-2019 basketball season. She fell in love with Acadiana and Cajun Nation and always hoped she would get the opportunity to cover the Cajuns full-time.
In college, Madeline was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, where she was the Alumnae Relations chair her junior year. She also served on the leadership team at The Refuge college ministry, which is a part of The Chapel on the Campus. Madeline helped recruit future sports broadcasters to LSU as a Manship School ambassador.
Prior to joining the KLFY sports team, Madeline was an anchor and reporter at LSU’s student-run television station for three years. Madeline covered LSU football, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, softball, tennis, swimming, track, and golf. Some of her memorable reports highlighted LSU Pro Day and the Tyrann Mathieu Kickball Classic.
While interning at WAFB in Baton Rouge for two summers, she traveled to Hoover for the SEC Baseball Tournament, Atlanta for the SEC Media Days, and Thibodaux for the Manning Passing Academy.
Madeline’s favorite memory in sports journalism so far has been interviewing Peyton Manning at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux. She first knew she wanted to be a sports reporter while watching Michele Tafoya interview Manning after a Monday night football game. It was a full-circle moment.
For 13 years, Madeline played “the beautiful game.” She started playing soccer at five years old, and continued playing for club and school throughout high school. Her high school soccer team (Terrebonne Tigers) was the district champions for 10 consecutive years, ending with her senior year. Those memories played a big role in Madeline’s love for covering high school sports today.
Hailing from Houma, Louisiana, Madeline has always been immersed in Cajun culture. While she’s not working, she’s probably hanging out with family, watching sports, or trying out a new coffee shop.
