EUNICE, La. (KLFY)– Two men have been arrested from a group accused of breaking into a Eunice home and taking turns beating the owner.
According to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, on July 5, deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a home invasion on J.R. Road in the Eunice area.
The owner of the residence reported to deputies that several males armed with guns entered his home at around 2:00 a.m. and took turns beating him with their guns and shouting, “Where is the money?”
According to a news release, three other victims were inside the house during the home invasion, one being several months pregnant.
The owner of the home told deputies that the group of suspects stole cell phones from the other occupants of the home and once the group left, began to fire a .45 caliber into his house.
Detectives say during their investigation, casings, and lead projectile was recovered from the living room floor and the owner was able to identify the suspects by name stating they were also members of a Eunice gang known as “Goons for Life.”
St. Landry detectives obtained warrants for suspects, one being Darius Kain Bruno Bazile, 19, of Eunice around 8:00 p.m. on July 5. Bazile is being charged with home invasion, aggravated 2nd-degree battery, two counts of armed robbery, four counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder, and one count of attempted 1st-degree feticide. His bond was set at $660,000.
Officers with the Eunice PD also located Isaiah Bradley, 17, of Eunice. Police say they recovered a High Point .45 caliber handgun and an H&R Handy 40-70 caliber rifle. Bradley was charged with home invasion, aggravated 2nd-degree battery, two counts of armed robbery, four counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder, and attempted 1st-degree feticide. His bond was not was not set at this time.
Both of the weapons recovered were sent to the Acadiana Crime Lab for comparison to the projectile and casings found at the scene.
Additional warrants on the other alleged gang members involved in the home invasion were obtained and Major Thibodeaux expects additional arrests.
The owner of the home was later brought to a local hospital with a broken jaw, collapsed lung, and a fractured eye socket sustained from the beating.
