UPDATE:  State Police have identified the victim in an early morning crash in Iberia Parish. 

Police say the crash took the life of 48 year old Wade Renard of New Iberia.

Shortly after 6:30 Monday morning Troopers say they responded to the crash on LA 83 at US 90.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that 34 year old Diovigildo Salina-Salverez was traveling north on LA 83. 

Police say as Salina-Salverez began to make a left turn to enter the US 90 westbound on-ramp and struck the motorcycle.

Renard sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office.

Salina-Salverez was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries, police say. 

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash; however, standard toxicology tests are pending on the part of Renard at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

Salina-Salverez submitted a chemical breath test and was not impaired. Salina-Salverez was cited for Failure to Yield. This crash remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL: Troopers are still at the scene. According to Troop I spokesman Brooks David, the crash happened at about 7 a.m.
