LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) Madonna Broussard, owner of Laura’s II Cafe on University Avenue in Lafayette, stops for a photo with Anthony Bourdain during filming at Laura’s II Restaurant in February, 2018.

According to Broussard, the restaurant will be featured in an upcoming episode of ‘Parts Unknown,’ Bourdain’s award winning food show.

In the show, Anthony Bourdain travels the world uncovering lesser known places and exploring cultures and cuisine.

The show has won 5 emmy awards, garnered 11 nominations for writing, sound mixing, editing and cinematography, as well as a 2013 Peabody Award.

As a third generation restaurant owner, Broussard said she received a phone call Sunday morning asking if she could accomodate Bourdain and his crew who are in town for Mardi Gras.

“That moment I got nervous, and very teary eyed , cause this is an honor.” Broussard wrote in a Facebook post.

“On today I wished my grandma, and my mother Dorothy Broussard, along with my father Harold Broussard, my brother, my cousins Tim and Joseph Brian Boudreaux every person/ hand that helped mold the Plate Lunch at Lauras Soulfood to be great, I wish you guys were here.”

Laura’s II opened in 1968 making it perhaps the first plate lunch house in Lafayette.

Best known for its stuffed turkey wings, fried pork chops, and fried catfish and chicken, Laura’s II is opened year round.
