LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- A 27-year-old Broussard man is facing an attempted second degree murder charge for allegedly stabbing a woman Monday afternoon.
Lafayette Police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Verot School Road where they found a woman suffering multiple stab and cut wounds.
Officers also located a man, identified as Blake Meche on scene matching the description that was given by a witness.
During questioning, the suspect stated that he was acting on “a sudden homicidal and sexual urge.”
The incident is believed to be random in nature, as there appears to be no connection between the suspect and victim, police said.
Meche was booked into LPCC on one count of attempted second degree murder.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Her wounds are non-life threatening, LPD Sgt. Kyle Soriez said today.
