LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette Police have identified the female victim in Thursday night’s homicide in the Hub City as 24-year-old Marisha Felix of Lafayette.
Felix was found dead in her car shortly before 8 p.m., in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, in the Himbola Manor Apartment Complex.

“It’s just one of them things… It happened so fast you know,” said Barbara Borel, a resident of the apartment complex.
Pieces of crime scene tape still remain on the ground throughout the Himbola Manor Apartments.
“Currently we have no suspects, we’re conducting interviews at this time and following up on leads that are coming into the Department,” said Sgt. Kyle Soriez with the Lafayette Police Department
“The only thing I heard was the 4 gunshots, and that’s all I know about it,” said Borel.
She’s been living in the Himbola Manor Apartments for around nine years.
She was sleeping when the gunshots rang out on Thursday.
“I just ran out. I didn’t know where it was coming from. Just really scary for everybody I guess,” said Borel.
According to neighbors, Felix was shot in her car in the middle of the apartment complex, ten her call rolled, slamming into a fence. That’s where officers found her body.
Borel says she knows the victim’s family, and is asking for prayers for the community.
“We just have to take one day at a time, that’s all we can do. Just ask God too…”
This is the second homicide in the city of Lafayette so far in 2018.
Lafayette Police tell News 10 that they will increase patrols in the neighborhood and apartment complex following the shooting.
