Two days, three people murdered all in unrelated incidents. Two victims were shot, one was stabbed. One suspect is still on the run. It’s been a busy weekend for both the New Iberia Police Department and the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The first homicide happened around 2:30 Friday morning on St. Jude Street in New Iberia. 16-year-old Devon Sutton was shot and killed. 19-year-old Jeyohn Augustine was arrested on first degree murder charges.

The second homicide happened less than 24 hours later, outside city limits. Around 8:00 PM Friday, 38-year-old Richard Southern was shot on L. Theriot Road. Iberia Parish Sheriff’s officials are looking for Kristian Broussard. He is wanted for second degree murder.

The third murder happened Saturday around 9:30 in the morning. According to officials, a 27-year-old woman was stabbed by her boyfriend, 31-year-old, Tren Mallet during a domestic dispute. This happened in a house on Weeks Island Road. Mallet was arrested on a charge of second degree murder.
