UPDATE: 19-year-old victim of overnight Jeanerette shooting identified

JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY) — UPDATE, 1:27 p.m.: The 19-year-old who was killed in the overnight shooting has been identified by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office as Tommy Carson, Jr. of Franklin.

The 16-year-old suspect was arrested for second-degree murder.

ORIGINAL POST, 11:47 a.m.: A 16-year-old has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old in Jeanerette, according to Jeanerette Police.

According to Chief Dusty Vallot, Jeanerette Police responded at around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning to a shooting at the intersection of Church St. and Pellerin St.

The names of the victim and suspect have not been released.
