LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Lafayette man has been indicted by a Lafayette Parish grand jury on a charge of first-degree murder.

According to the 15th Judicial District Attorney, Kendall Ray Leopaul, 20, of Brothers Road has been indicted on first-degree murder in the death of Vontre DePaul Broussard.

He was also indicted for the attempted first-degree murder of Barbara Jardell.

On July 24, 2021, according to the 15th JDA, Leopaul used a vehicle to assault and fire gunshots into a group of people at the Walgreens in Carencro.

He was also indicted on two charges of damage to property.
