BOURSSARD, La. (KLFY)—A tip on counterfeit money leads to the arrest of a Breaux Bridge man, authorities said.

The Broussard Police Department said they received information on Oct. 12 from a local business that a suspect who had given counterfeit money recently was in the business.

Officers responded to the location and said they identified the suspect as Rocky Lecamus, 32, and began an investigation.

According to a news release, Lecamus was the suspect in a counterfeit case that police were already investigating as well as the suspect in a separate incident where he allegedly ran from officers during a traffic violation.

During a search of Lecamus’ car, police said they located counterfeit money, approximately 1.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a handgun, and several checks & credit cards which had been stolen out of Iberia Parish.

Lecamus was arrested and charged with monetary instrument abuse, illegal possession of stolen things (over $1,500), possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities said the suspect also had several felony warrants from Iberia Parish and warrants from the Broussard Police for resisting by flight, driving under suspension and traffic violations.
