LPSO identifies victims found in burning vehicles

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Authorities have identified the man and woman who were found in two separate burning vehicles early Tuesday morning.

Captain John Babin, of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, said the female body found along Old Spanish Trail in Scott is that of Ashley Nichole Metz, 23.

The male body found on Denette Road north of Carencro is that of Metz’s boyfriend, Brouklynn Walter Hill, 22.

The victims’ parents and friends spoke with News 10 in the days leading up to the release of their identities.

Eddie Thomas, who refers to Brouklynn Hill as his adopted son, told Dalfred Jones that he hadn’t heard from him since June 19, 2016, when Brouklynn called to tell him “Happy Father’s Day.”

Carla Dean said she spoke with her daughter, Ashley Metz, late Monday night just hours before her body was discovered .

Brouklynn Hill’s body was recovered first around 1:15 a.m. on June 21, 2016, by the Carencro Fire Department.

Scott firefighters found Ashley Metz almost two and a half hours later around 3:30 a.m.

Babin said investigators do not have any suspects in the case. Both deaths are being investigated as homicides.

Anyone with information that could help authorities identify a suspect is asked to call the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 232-9211.
