YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) – A Youngsville mother of two was killed by her estranged husband who also took his life Thursday night, authorities said.

Authorities say it happened in the 100 block of Maple Grove Lane.

Authorities say Trent Bodin, 45, shot and killed 42-year-old Lauri Walters Bodin before reportedly turning the gun on himself. There were children inside the home at the time, authorities and neighbors said.

Witnesses tell KLFY News 10 they heard about five gunshots come from the home. They said after that a young teen ran out of the house crying and yelling, “He killed my mom.”

Authorities said Trent Bodin also killed one of the family dogs.

Neighbors say Lauri Walters Bodin had a restraining order against her husband and the two were going through a divorce.
