Over the weekend, Opelousas police department were working crowd control in the area of South and Academy Streets when they obtained an illegal firearm.
Police were told a male who was having a conflict with another patron, may be armed.
The male,32-year-old Jacoby Taylor of Lafayette, was arrested for carrying an illegal 9mm pistol.
Authorities say it is illegal for Taylor to carry because he has an extensive criminal history. Taylor was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.
