On June 3, 2018 Opelousas City Police Department investigated a shooting incident in the 1000 block of Phillip Street.

During the investigation, the department received a second 911 call about shots fired in the 1600 block of Brown Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim’s vehicle crashed into a building.

The victim had been shot several times, investigators said.

The victim is in stable condition today, police said.

Investigators later located and arrested Gevonta Peterson, 19, and Kenon Richard, 22, for attempted first degree murder and armed robbery.
