SCOTT, La. (KLFY) Scott Police have arrested 33 year old Courtney Williamson, and 26 year old Jeremy Deshotel both of Youngsville, along with 28 year old Dustin Venable of Scott.
The arrest were made after PayPal, Inc., contacted police and asked them to investigate a complaint that 3 people had set up a fraudulent internet company and was paid approximately $80,000 for products that were not supplied to the buyer.
Scott Police Chief Chad Leger said during an internal investigation, PayPal, Inc. was able to trace the money as being deposited into Deshotel’s bank account and withdrawn by Deshotel to be distributed to himself, Williamson, and Venable.
During a search of their residences, detectives from the Scott Police Department, Lafayette Metro Narcotics, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office located several illegal narcotics,
drug-paraphernalia, and weapons which were seized for evidence.
Williamson was booked into LPCC on charges of money laundering, illegal transmission of monetary funds, possession of a legend drug, and possession of schedule II narcotics.
Deshotel was booked on charges including money laundering, illegal transmission of monetary funds, possession of schedule III, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance.
Venable was booked on money laundering, illegal transmission of monetary funds, possession with intent to distribute schedule I, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of schedule IV.
No bond has been set.
