After extinguishing, human remains and remains belonging to a dog were discovered in the debris. F

Foul play was suspected and police identified Randall J. Romero, the property owner, as the suspect.

Romero is currently in the St. Martin Parish jail on charges of second-degree murder, unlawful disposal of human remains, aggravated cruelty to animals, and two counts of obstruction of justice.

The identity of the victim has not been released and the case remains under investigation.

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) — A St. Martinville man faces murder charges after police say they found the remains of a human and a dog in a burning structure Monday afternoon, Jan. 17.

Randal J. Romero faces charges of second-degree murder, unlawful disposal of human remains, aggravated cruelty to animals, and two counts of obstruction of justice, according to St. Martinville Police.

The victim’s identity is not being disclosed at this time.
