Suspect in weekend standoff in Sunset has been booked on several charges including attempted murder

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sunset man on an attempted first degree murder charge among other charges following a standoff  Saturday.

39 year old Jeremy Daniel Boss of Sunset was arrested Saturday night on attempted first degree murder charges, simple battery and aggravated assault with a firearm, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. 

Around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to his mothers home in the 200 block of Boudreaux Street in Sunset by family members who reportedly said he appeared under the influence.

When officers arrived, they say, Boss fired several rounds at police with a shotgun.

Police say they returned fire as Boss retreated inside the home.  

No injuries were reported.

Detectives from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Sunset Police and the Opelousas Police Department SWAT team secured the area and began attempts to call Boss out of the home.

After several hours he surrendered and told our KLFY’s Rebeca Marroquin that he was upset that family members that he did what he did because family members were messing with his lyrics.
