UPDATE: 2nd annual Louisiana Boil-Off date changed to May 19

The second-annual Louisiana Boil-Off heats up when demanding crawfish connoisseurs pick the best boiled mudbugs in Acadiana.

Using their own unique recipes, restaurants, corporate entities and amateur boilers from across the region will compete Saturday, April 21, on the lawn of Warehouse 535, at 535 Garfield St., to find out who boils the best crawfish in Acadiana.

Doors open at 4 p.m., with the party going into the evening. Entry is free, and tasting tickets will be sold in sheets for $10. One sheet is good for five samples of crawfish, equaling about two to three pounds.

Sucking heads and pinching tails will begin at 4 p.m. with judging at 5:30 p.m., live music from 6-8 p.m. and a winners ceremony at 8:15 p.m. A fun jump will also be available for children attending.

Organized by Chef Patrick Mould of Louisiana Culinary Enterprises and Mark Falgout and Matt Chiasson of Warehouse 535, Acadiana’s second annual crawfish boiling competition and tasting brings the community together to celebrate our culinary and musical cultures, with proceeds benefiting Miles Perret Cancer Services.

Sponsors include Certified Louisiana, Louisiana Sweet Potato Commission and Lafayette Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“With a tasty crawfish season upon us and warmer temperatures ahead, we can’t wait to bring the Louisiana Boil-Off back to Acadiana,” says Mould. “We invite anyone who thinks they have what it takes to boil up the best crawfish to come out and compete, and the public to come and taste the results for a good cause!”
