ORIGINAL: One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Crowley, Sunday evening.

Police and Emergency crews responded near the 700 block of Leslie Amos just after 6 p.m. and found one victim who had been shot multiple times.

Police Chief Jimmy Broussard said the male victim and another man were outside a home talking when the suspect appeared from behind the home and opened fire.

The victim was transported to the hospital where his condition is unknown, Broussard said.

The second person was not injured.

Neighbors tell KLFY that many people were outside enjoying the day when the gun shots rang out and they ran for cover.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

Chief of Police Jimmy Broussard stated: “Even though we are still trying to determine motive and suspect, it is still such a horrific event that another family has to lose their loved one over a senseless act of violence. We are currently following several leads in reference to identifying a person of interest in this. But, we cannot do it alone. We NEED our community’s help to bring this person to justice, and to bring closure to the family.”
