BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG)– What may be the cutest story of the day: Now being detained by law enforcement in Bay Minette, a pygmy goat that was found wandering the streets of Bay Minette and now is in search of a home.
Certainly, not the kind of call animal control is used to getting. A goat on the loose near a busy intersection right across from Walmart.
First mistaken for a baby goat, the full-grown pygmy goat is becoming quite popular says animal control officer Rebecca Jernigan. “The reaction has just been remarkable. Everybody has been saying, oh can I have him, can I hold him.”
How he came to wonder the streets of Bay Minette is still a mystery. “He could have got out of someone’s yard, the fence could of broke down, he could have jumped on one of the stumps and over the fence.”
Better suited for farm life, the little fella has already made himself at home in the city, at least temporarily. “He’s been walking around the police station,” says Jernigan. “I’ve just been letting him walk around the station and visit everybody.”
A permanent home could come Thursday, if his owner doesn’t reclaim him, he’ll be up for adoption.
