LSU clears Sen. Bill Cassidy of wrongdoing

BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) – Louisiana State University said U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy didn’t do anything improper when he taught part-time at LSU.

The university reviewed Cassidy’s medical teaching work where he collected a $20,000 annual salary. In last year’s U.S. Senate race, then Senator Mary Landrieu accused Cassidy of bilking taxpayers. LSU said its internal audit found Cassidy provided services consistent with his compensation.

There were gaps in Cassidy’s LSU timesheets, but the audit said timesheets weren’t used for payroll purposes under Cassidy’s work agreement. Cassidy is currently on unpaid leave from LSU.
