OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – A twenty-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that happened early this morning.

The incident happened around 3:00 a.m. this morning in the 400 block of Common Street.

Corey Leger, of the Opelousas Police Department, said Kenric Jerome Castille, 44, of Opelousas, was shot and killed.

Police and St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies located the suspect, De’Angelo Rubin, outside of the city limits around 9:00 a.m.

Rubin has been charged with second-degree murder for Castille’s death, according to Corey Leger.
