NIXA, Mo. – Seven-year-old Kyleigh Barboa is a first grade student, aspiring barista and published author.
Barboa published How to Be Great Parents: Through the Eyes of a Child, now available on Amazon and Kindle. The book is an instructional guide full of parenting tips on topics like learning, discipline, bedtime and even parent date night.
When it comes to bedtime, Barboa suggests parents be firm, “if kids stall one time, they’re going to stall every single tiring night– so just make them go to bed.”
“I just want the world to have better parents, that’s all the matters is to make your parents proud,” said the author.
Barboa grew up in a writing environment, as her grandmother is Dr. Linda Barboa, author of several children’s novels and books on autism.
“It was just too funny, and too good to just let it go by,” said Dr. Barboa when her granddaughter approached her with the idea for the book. “With her being so articulate, it’s just a picture into the way children think.”
The duo began drafting the guide in November of 2018, but Dr. Barboa insists that her role was simply to bring to life every decision Kyleigh made.
Kyleigh will host a book signing from 1 – 3 p.m. on April 13 at Roots Coffee Bar, the same place she hopes to launch her career as a barista.
