Five attempted murder suspects are now behind bars in Opelousas.
Officers arrived in the area of Paris Street around 12:30 Monday morning to look into a complaint of gunshots.
They did not find anyone in the area, but discovered bullet casings in the street.
Patrol officers returned to the area around 11:30 p.m. last night, when the police department received another complaint of shots fired in the 700 block of Paris Street.
Police later learned the shots were fired into the house, while eight people were inside. A vehicle was also shot. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Officers quickly responded and stopped a vehicle trying to speed away from the area.
Antonio Malveaux, D’angilo Rubin, John Tyler, and Kelly Guidry were arrested and were each charged with eight counts of attempted second degree murder.
Marcus Chenier was later found and arrested on Tuesday and also charged with eight counts of attempted second degree murder.
Investigators believe the shooting was in retaliation to several fights over the weekend between people from the northeast and northwest side of Opelousas.
