LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – A 26-year-old Lake Charles woman has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in the 2014 death of an infant.
Holly Carter, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office, said Brittney Woodcock was the primary caretaker on April 1, 2014, when 6-month-old Kaden James Reed died.
Carter said the infant rolled off an adult-size mattress and suffocated between it and the wall.
The American Press reports Woodcock enter her plea on Tuesday.
She said Woodcock and her husband, Tyson, were under the influence of illegal substances at the time.
Tyson Woodcock pleaded guilty to accessory to negligent homicide in June and was sentenced to 1 1/2 years in the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Brittney Woodcock’s sentencing is set for Oct. 14.
