LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – South Louisiana Community College welcomed President Obama’s proposal to offer two free years of community college for Americans who maintain good grades.
Communications and Marketing Director Christine Payton said it highlights the importance of community and technical college education. SLCC has campuses in all eight Acadiana parishes. Payton said an educated workforce benefits everyone.
“Citizens who are educated can get better jobs,” Payton said. “Our society benefits from that. Industry benefits from a trained workforce. I think it’s a win-win.”
Payton said she looks forward to hearing more details about the President’s plan. SLCC serves around 10,000 students in Acadiana.
