Retaking Tikrit

Iraqi forces are closer to recapturing the ISIS stronghold of Tikrit. The city fell to ISIS last year, but Iraqi forces have been working for nearly two weeks to enter it. CBS News Correspondent Holly Williams, who has been traveling with the Iraqi fighters along the front lines, reports from Baghdad.

Survivor conviction

Former “Survivor” producer Bruce Beresford-Redmond has been convicted on murder charges in the 2010 killing of his wife during a vacation in Mexico, his attorney told CBS News. Attorney Jaime Cancino said Beresford-Redman was sentenced yesterday to 12 years in prison. In November 2014, after being held at the Benito Juarez prison in Cancun for nearly three years, Beresford-Redman gave “48 Hours” his first sit-down interview about the case. The program included footage he shot from inside the prison. More on “48 Hours” tomorrow at 9pm ET.

Bomber trial

Jurors in the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have been shown a dramatic video of a carjacking victim escaping from Tsarnaev and his brother days after the attacks, reports CBS News Correspondent Don Dahler.. Last year, the carjack victim, who at the time asked to be identified only as Danny, told his story to CBS News.
