The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor a very active Atlantic Ocean with several disturbances. As of now, there are no threats to the Gulf of Mexico over the next 7-10 days.
Major Hurricane Sam remains a powerful hurricane with winds at 150 mph. Fortunately, Sam is not a threat to the U.S. or the Caribbean Islands as it continues northward over the coming days, staying well into the central Atlantic Ocean.
Behind Hurricane Sam, Tropical Storm Victor formed on Wednesday near the coast of Africa. Victor is expected to stay well in the Atlantic before dissipating. All the other tropical waves have dissipated. The next name on the list is Wanda. The Greek Alphabet will not be used this year as a secondary list will be used if all names are used from the original.
